Welcome to Stoughton Lacrosse!

The Stoughton Lacrosse Club began as a co-op with Oregon in 2007. Now, beginning with the 2012 season, we are school sponsored! We are very excited to begin this new endeavor and continue to grow in this great sport. There will be a lot happening in this new season, so please remember to check back often.

Our club currently supports grades 7-12 with Varsity, Junior Varsity, and 7/8 Senior teams. We are looking into recruiting for a 5/6 Junior team (and coach) for the 2013 season. Please note that Stoughton youth teams will continue to co-op with Oregon and McFarland.

1st to 6th grades are currently run through the Stoughton Recreation League were kids can learn the basic skills of lacrosse: www.ci.stoughton.wi.us (under departments). Check it out.

Girls lacrosse is a co-op with Oregon, Stoughton, and McFarland. Visit them at www.oregonlacrosseclub.org.

The Game of Lacrosse
by posted 05/17/2010

The game of lacrosse requires and rewards coordination and agility, not brawn. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse. An exhilarating sport, lacrosse is fast-paced and full of action. Long sprints up and down the field with abrupt starts and stops, precision passes and dodges are routine in boys and girls lacrosse. Lacrosse is played with a stick, the crosse, which must be mastered by the player to throw, catch and scoop the ball.

The game of lacrosse is unique among all sports due to the history and origins of its rules. It is a game played with honor; a game where sportsmanship is at the top of the list of rules.
Game - A way of amusing oneself; a pastime; diversion.

Sportsmanship - Qualities and conduct of those that participate in sports; abiding by the rules of the contest and accepts victory or defeat graciously.

Honor - Esteem; respect; reverence
